Federal Police arrested seven employees at Manaus International Airport this Wednesday (16) who allegedly facilitated the entry of drugs into restricted areas of the terminal. In addition, a man was detained in Valparaíso de Goiás, near the Federal District, for signs of involvement in a criminal organization. The Federal Court authorized the blocking of R$762,000 from ten individuals and companies under investigation, in addition to issuing five search and seizure warrants.
The action was part of the Skunk King operation carried out in December 2023, which resulted in several complaints against people accused of shipping drugs into DF and the surrounding area. In this new phase, the PF is trying to dismantle the core linked to one of the suspects, who was responsible for transporting drugs by air.
The company revealed that investigations showed that employees at Manaus International Airport allowed illegal drugs to enter restricted areas, thereby preventing those responsible for prohibited cargo from passing their baggage through the screening process. The air terminals in Brasília and Florianópolis are frequently identified as targets of this organization.
The penalty for the acts under investigation can be up to 35 years in prison. Today’s operation, called “Operação Espelhum”, refers to one of their strategies under investigation, namely hiding drugs in a bathroom structure at Eduardo Gomes International Airport.
