Ciudad Juárez.- Two short guns and one long gun, in addition to nearly eight thousand cartridges, were confiscated at the Córdova-Américas (Libre) international bridge by National Guard agents, who detained an adult and a teenager for allegedly being responsible for transporting the weapons.

Among those seized were a Smith & Wesson 5.56 x 45 mm assault rifle, a Springfield Armory troop-style pistol, and another SIG Sauer, the latter two in 9 millimeter caliber.

Likewise, a total of seven thousand 620 bullets were confiscated, of which there were three thousand 966 7.62x39mm caliber, 300 .40 caliber, 504 9 mm caliber, one thousand 468 5.56x45mm caliber, and one thousand 382 .22 caliber.

Official reports indicate that the weapons came through the free bridge in a brown Ford Lobo pickup truck, driven by 25-year-old Jonathan Arturo MD, and also traveled with a 17-year-old identified as CTT, who appeared nervous while trying to enter Juárez from United States, so an inspection was carried out and the location of the weapons and bullets was found.

All were taken into custody and the two men arrested were turned over to the Attorney General’s Office, for possible crimes against the Federal Firearms and Explosives Act.
