The election survey conducted by the Quaest Institute, released this Saturday (19), shows that David Almeida (Avante), the current mayor of Manaus, remains in the lead in the race for the position of chief executive of the city, with 43% of voting intentions in the stimulated scenario. Captain Alberto Neto (PL) delivered a figure of 41%.
According to the agency, 900 people, aged 16 and over, were interviewed in person, from 16 to 18 October 2024. The survey for the second round of the Manaus municipal election was registered with the electoral court and filed under number AM-05248/2024. The margin of error is 3 percentage points and the confidence level is 95%.
Among the key insights from the study, the survey reports that 27% of voters in Manaus are still undecided in a spontaneous scenario – and can still define the election, which is practically a tie. On the other hand, 77% said their vote choice was certain. In addition, David Almeida’s government was rated positively by 40% of voters. In other data, Captain Alberto Neto appeared unknown to 24% of voters.
Spontaneous scenario
In a spontaneous survey, where respondents did not know the names of the candidates, David Almeida emerged with 36% voting intention and Capitão Alberto Neto (PL), with 34%. David and Captain were, technically, tied in a spontaneous vote. In this case, 27% were still undecided and 3% said they would choose blank or null or did not intend to choose.
Stimulated scenarios
In stimulated voting intentions, when interviewees were told the names and parties of candidates running in the second round, David Almeida (Avante) emerged with a voting intent of 43%. Captain Alberto Neto appeared with 41%. In a stimulated survey, 4% were undecided. The percentage of people who are white, have no intention of voting or do not intend to vote, reaches 12%.
Evaluation
The survey also asked respondents about the administration of Manaus Mayor David Almeida. Now, in October, 40% of voters rated the administration of candidates for re-election favorably – in August, the figure was 48%; and in September, 44%.
In an August survey, 18% rated David Almeida’s management negatively. In the September study, the figure was 15%. Now, this month, it’s 18% again.
