SELF: Can I ask about some of the topics you’ve covered?
Roberson: Kate, what’s good?
Ohashi: I thought one of the funny ones was, ‘What’s each other’s green flag?’ Basically, everyone’s great qualities are what we noticed and observed during this tour.
Roberson: I’d say Kate is very comfortable and authentic with herself. She’s very secure with who she is and she’s not afraid to let people know.
Ohashi: Besides Hezly being in and out, Joss is our youngest girl on tour right now. He’s only been in college—what, a few weeks?—and it looks like he’s going to be a strong college—
Lee: Leader!
Ohashi: Leader. He knew exactly what to say. He is very articulate and straight to the point. And I feel like when something happens during the show, he brings everyone together and can say something that encourages everyone.
Lee: We call him Joss the Boss. Dear boss.
Ohashi: [laughing] Dear boss!
Lee: But it was well earned. He’s like a little captain, and it’s really fun because he brings his college energy to the sport.
SELF: So how do you think the experience of going on this tour is different from going to a regular gymnastics competition or meet?
Roberson: It’s very different. When you are at competitions and meets, you are doing it for yourself. Yes, there are people who come to watch you, but it’s true yours target, yours dream. But here, you do it for the fans. You want to make sure everyone who comes to watch enjoys their time.
This is our time to have fun. We’ve done everything we’ve worked hard for, so here’s the reward.
