Cracked Potato Soup Tips and Variations

It is important to care for the patient, supervised by a doctor, but this is a time of great pain and suffering.

  • Frozen Potatoes: I love the convenience of using frozen potatoes in this soup recipe! I prefer diced frozen potatoes because of the texture they add to the soup! Feel free to use frozen shredded hash browns if you prefer.
  • Chicken broth: The potatoes absorb a lot of the chicken stock. If you prefer a thinner soup, add a little chicken stock!
  • Half and Half Substitutes: Any milk will work! You can also use heavy cream if you want a thick, creamy soup!

How to Store Crock Pot Potato Soup

This crock pot potato soup makes for great leftovers! You can even double the amount and freeze it for the next day!

  • In the Refrigerator:Once your soup has cooled, you can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will last about 3-4 days.
  • In the Freezer:You can make this potato soup ahead of time and freeze it for later! Once cool, you can put it in a ziplock bag and lay it flat. It will last for about three months!
  • To Reheat:If you are reheating from frozen soup, remove the soup the night before and let the soup thaw in the refrigerator overnight. You can reheat it on the stove or in a crock pot until completely warm. Add a little chicken stock or milk to add moisture to the soup if necessary. Potatoes absorb a lot of liquid when stored, so it’s natural that they need more liquid to reheat.
