Vlaardingen plumber Ron van Uffelen has passed away

The endangered plumber from Vlaardingen, Ron van Uffelen, died on Monday at the age of 45. This was announced by his relatives on Monday evening through lawyer Richard Korver. “The cause of death appears to be medical,” writes the Korver law firm.

According to broadcaster Rijnmond, Van Uffelen was hospitalized last Saturday for heart problems.

The plumber has been subject to bomb attacks since April 2023, which he and his family survived. His car, house and business premises were damaged or set on fire. A firebomb was also thrown at his family home. On the orders of Vlaardingen Mayor Bert Wijbenga, Van Uffelen was repeatedly not allowed to enter his home for long periods of time, much to his anger. He received a temporary ban from the area. The family was allowed to return last July, albeit with security measures such as surveillance cameras.

He himself did not understand why he had been targeted twenty times, Van Uffelen repeatedly stated. ‘I don’t do drugs and I’m not a thief. The only thing is that until a few years ago I had my hands free,’ he said. The telegraph.

The police deployed a large team to the explosions in Vlaardingen, which caused great unrest there. At least 20 detectives investigated the incidents and a reward of 50,000 euros was offered. The case was never solved, although the suspects were arrested several times.

Van Uffelen is survived by a wife and two children. “The family is in shock and asks everyone to respect their privacy as they try to come to terms with this huge and completely unexpected loss,” writes attorney Korver.
