A house on Prins Hendrikstraat was locked down on Saturday after shots were fired on Thursday, as was a house in Visscherspad near Rijnsaterwoude after an explosion on Friday afternoon.
Spies said the shooting in Beukenlaan had caused unrest in the surrounding area. “This is completely understandable, considering the recent incidents of violence in Alphen aan den Rijn and Rijnsaterwoude. Once again this is a tough measure, but I believe swift action is also necessary in this case. The safety of our citizens is paramount.’
Police assess that there is a connection between the shooting incident and the explosion. “As this is an ongoing investigation, no announcements will be made regarding this matter,” the city said. A total of six people were arrested, four people after the shooting incident at Prins Hendrikstraat, two people in Beukenlaan.
