Twisters is not a sequel to Jan de Bont’s original disaster film Twister. You can’t call it a remake either. It’s a better film about the same subject matter: tornado hunting.
Together with a group of fellow PhD students, ambitious Kate conducts a scientific experiment during a whirlwind. According to her calculations, her invention should cause the tornado to decrease in strength. Things get completely out of control, resulting in the deaths of three of her friends. Is her equipment new to use 28 years ago? Twister – too old-fashioned? The machine is called Dorothy, after the little girl. The Wizard of Oz which ends up in a fantasy world due to a tornado.
