The Court of Auditors believes that the Government’s objectives regarding accessibility are too vague

The Court of Auditors recalls the criticisms it had already expressed in May. Rijkswaterstaat and ProRail together said they needed almost 25 billion euros more for maintenance up to and including 2037. In view of this shortage, the minister must make clear “how he can concretise and subsequently realise such an ambition in the government programme”.

The government programme states that the ambition is to “do the maximum”, and the Cabinet immediately points out that “not everything is possible at the same time”. On Budget Day, Infrastructure and Water Management allocated around €3 billion extra for the maintenance of railways, roads and waterways.
