Federal representative Julieta Vences Valencia (Morena) conveyed the initiative to reform Organic Law of the General Congress with the aim of ensuring equality in the governing body of the Chamber of Deputies.
With this modification, Morenista tries to guarantee this 50% of the presidency of the 51 commissions that will be owned by the LXVI legislature are filled by female representatives.
In addition, it is proposed that the position of president of the Board of Directors not only be rotated among the parliamentary groups that make up the Lower House, but also be done on a gender basis, as it cannot fall to a person of the same sex. as their predecessors.

The Vences Valencia initiative also aims, in line with the principle of gender equality, to enable parliamentary groups to submit applications presidency of the Board of Directors to someone of a different gender than the one who serves as President of the Political Coordination Body (Jucopo).
The legislator also seeks to ensure that within parliamentary groups, coordination and coordinating deputies do not fall into the hands of people of the same sex, this respects the self-determination of the group.
Vences Valencia explained that the amendment would guarantee this gender equality is not just a matter of numerical representation, but extends to management and decision-making positions in the Chamber of Deputies.
He considered that noun equality requires that women have fair access to bodies that determine public policies that affect the entire population.

The legislator urged his colleagues to ensure this initiative promoted and approved as soon as possible because these commissions will soon be formed and it is time to integrate equality issues into these commissions.
“The exclusion of women in the ranks of the Board of Directors, the Political Coordinating Body and the leadership of the most relevant commissions reflects a structural gap that must be immediately addressed,” he demanded.
