Question for employers: Is staff shortages sometimes (also) due to the boss?

Staff shortages are even more noticeable during the summer period. Research by the Happiness Bureau shows that 46 percent of employees who are dissatisfied with their boss plan to apply for a job within a year. For employees who are satisfied with their boss, this percentage is only 14 percent.

There you have it: unsuitable managers play a major role in employee turnover. But a manager’s suitability and leadership style are often overlooked as a reason for leaving. Whereas a manager has a major influence on employee job satisfaction.
