Mike Tindall used a very naughty King Charles excuse when he wanted to get out, one of his friends revealed.
The 46-year-old former England rugby player reportedly used King Charles – and sometimes the famous royal corgis – as an excuse to miss the event he was going to.
Mike, who married Zara Tindall in 2011, released a new book entitled ‘The Good, The Bad and The Rugby – Unleashed’ last week. The book was written with his co-stars, James Haskell and Alex Payne.
In the book, James tells the story of a trip his three friends took to Paris. The three visited a nightclub near the Eiffel Tower before drinking and then leaving at around 3.30am.
They were due to record a podcast the next day, but only James and Alex showed up – with Mike “unseen”.
James wrote: “When Payno turned up to record the podcast the next morning, he was wearing a big coat, looking very pale and feeling very sorry for himself.
“Tins was nowhere to be seen, so we both shot it without her.
“Tins does have a habit of disappearing every once in a while. She always has lots of excuses, from the King wanting his back scratched, or Corgi having poop on his laptop so he can’t access his email or the gutter cleaner hasn’t arrived on time and Zara is going crazy.
“Sometimes he finally shows up, but it’s always a few weeks late.”
The 46 year old man married Zara on July 30 2011, in Edinburgh. Their wedding took place three months after the Prince and Princess of Wales married at Westminster Abbey.
The pair met in Australia in 2003, before becoming “official” the following year.
Mike proposed to his only daughter Princess Anne in December 2010 after seven years of dating.
