Celebrity insiders in the California town where Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have settled in America after leaving the UK and undertaking their Royal Duties, are starting to whisper about the couple’s recent spate of solo public appearances.
Montecito’s brightest gossip magazine, a must-read for the star-studded community in Southern California’s upscale waterfront enclave, typically includes features on local planning squabbles, high society events, neighborhood happenings and the odd crime snippet. However, the gossip column ‘Grapevine’ was able to add to the morning routine of two of the area’s most prominent members with chatter about “speculation” regarding their relationship after each attended several individual events.
Montecito Journal columnist Richard Mineards worked for years as an Empire reporter for various British tabloids, but traded his work for America 13 years ago to contribute to the Montecito Journal. Her latest piece details Prince Harry’s solo trip to the WellChild Awards in the British capital, alongside Meghan Markle’s chat on Girls Inc, where she lamented being “one of the most bullied people in the world”.
Mineards noted: “It was his second public appearance without Harry since his visit to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on October 5 – as Royal experts pondered whether the Riven Rock couple were ‘separated’, then highlighted that they were still living ‘increasingly separate lives’ .”
For Meghan and Harry, who live in Montecito’s Riven Rock with their children Archie and Lillibet, rumors of their “separate lives”, created by a respected regional writer, may not sit well with their morning tea, the Mirror reports.
Richard Mineards, a veteran journalist with a background in the Daily Mirror and Daily Mail, who now works as an anchor for CBS in the US, previously revealed that King Charles was kept informed about his son’s family via the Journal website.
As well as sharing exclusive Kingdom updates, Mineards’ ‘Grapevine’ column also reports on recent celebrity sightings in the area, including Katy Perry, Cameron Diaz with partner Benji Madden, Oprah Winfrey and Orlando Bloom.
He consistently closed his rousing column with his trademark farewell: “Pip! Pip!”.
