Scottish DJ icon Jackmaster, whose real name was Jack Revill, has tragically died aged 38. The famous music figure died in Ibiza on Saturday [October 12]with his family revealing that his death was caused by “complications arising from an accidental head injury” in a heart-wrenching statement.
Mourning the loss, they stated: “It is with deep sadness that we confirm the passing of Jack Revill, known to many as the Jackmaster. Jack tragically passed away in Ibiza on the morning of October 12, following complications arising from an accidental head injury. “
They went on to share the depth of their pain: “His family – Kate, Sean and Johnny – are completely heartbroken. While deeply moved by the overwhelming support from friends, colleagues and fans, the family kindly asks for privacy as they move through their grief extraordinary for this enormous loss.”
Hailing from Glasgow, Jack honed his skills at the famous Rubadub record shop and went on to co-found the highly respected record label Numbers, reports the Daily Star. His latest hit ‘Nitro’, featuring Kid Enigma, had been released not long before his death, with Jack sharing his thoughts in Electronic Groove magazine: “It was about feeling energized and inspired in the club. Unfortunately, those moments are rare now. Blame it on the phone and people who don’t dance, I think.”
Jack said he was grateful for all the love from his admirers but highlighted his passion for dancing, commenting: “I’m very grateful to my fans, but I got into music because I love dancing. It’s a lost art form nowadays, I think .”
Following this heartbreaking news, electronica duo Disclosure took to their social platforms, sharing their sadness: “Can’t believe this. Heartbroken. Thank you for all the amazing memories and inspiration, Jack. This is really, really bad.”
Industry stalwart CamelPhat also paid tribute on Revill’s Instagram, stating: “Can’t believe what I’m reading… in an industry full of Egos, you are one of the best people we have met in a long time. Our thoughts are with your family and friend. RIP my friend x.”
Friends and fans flooded social media with tributes to the respected DJ. Echoing this sentiment, musician and DJ Jamie Bryan posted: “Heartbreaking man, RIP,” accompanied by an emoji that clearly conveyed his despair.
DJ Annie Mac mourned Jack’s passing, posting a heartfelt message: “Sad to hear of the tragic death of Jack Revill aka @jackmaster. He was one of the UK’s best DJs; fearless and forward thinking, committed to the job at hand.”
He went on to say: “He was so charismatic, so fun, so wholesome, one of those people who lit up a room. I always loved seeing and talking to him. He was only thirty-eight. I can’t believe he’s gone. Sending all my love and thoughts go out to his family and loved ones.”
