The Intel Core 9 285K CPU was tested at extreme profiles, achieving more than 10% performance over the 14900K while consuming more than 350W of power.
Intel Core 9 Ultra 285K CPU Tested In Unlimited “Extreme” Power Mode, Consumes Huge Power But Performs Faster Than 14900KS
As we approach the official release timeline, benchmarks around the Intel Core Ultra 200S CPU have started to appear quite frequently and are also setting new records.
For Intel’s flagship “Core Ultra 200S” CPU, new Cinebench test screenshots have revealed that the CPU has managed to record power consumption levels of around 360W-370W in extreme tests, exceeding the 250W power profile we saw appear in Cinebench’s previous Benchmark R23 which indicated that the Core The Ultra 9 285K still has incredible capabilities embedded that can’t be exploited yet.
The latest benchmarks come from popular leaker I_Leak_VN & HXL, who revealed that under “extreme overclocking” conditions, Arrow Lake’s flagship CPU has managed to utilize a power consumption of 370W, 370.5W to be exact (CPU package power).
Interestingly, the onboard P-Core on the Intel Core 9 285K CPU is locked at 5.6 GHz, while each E-Core runs at 3.9 GHz. The workload managed to score 46,289 points in Cinebench R23, trailing the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X at 253W. Even the 230W on the Ryzen 9 9950X is much better as it’s close to the Core Ultra 9 285K at 364W>

This particular test not only shows us how Intel is holding back when it comes to its “CPU profile”, but the interesting fact here is that despite the thread deficit when compared to peers like the Intel Core i9-14900K and AMD Ryzen 9 9950X, the Core The Ultra 9 285K is still able to deliver decent performance, even illustrating the efficiency improvements expected to come with the Intel Arrow Lake SKU.
In terms of launch date, the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, along with other SKUs in the Arrow Lake lineup, will be released on October 24, and this will indeed mark a new era of performance in the desktop CPU segment.
