According to Habtom Yohannes, the freedom and prosperity we have in the Netherlands did not come about by chance. That is why every time he is at the National Memorial Camp in Amersfoort, he thanks those who were imprisoned there during World War II. “These are people who have remained true to their conscience and the rights of others, they have made possible the freedom in which I can flourish. There is also no better place to commemorate Eritrea’s prisoners of conscience than visiting these camps.” Photo by: Marnix Schmidt
